Meet the Principal
Christina Scaife BVET, AACC, FCES, TCertWP
Thank you for your interest in courses here at Bedford College. I'm delighted that you have taken the time to view our website and hope it may help you decide to make Bedford your first choice when it comes to your future training needs.
At Bedford, we believe that we are unique. We are a not-for-profit organisation and we have an enviable reputation as a provider of quality training in a caring, Christian environment. Our small class sizes mean that every student is treated as an individual and personalised attention is given to everyone. As Principal my door is always open to students, whether wishing to discuss the course, personal concerns or simply to pass the time of day. It's true to say that at Bedford, our students are our number one priority.
Today's corporate world is a very competitive place and we find that organisations are increasingly seeking employees with 'the right attitude'. In an effort to address this, we focus on the whole individual, not just the skills needed for work.
Our students are encouraged to develop and demonstrate an attitude that is appealing to a prospective employer. This includes respect for others, honesty, integrity, loyalty and a strong work ethic. These attributes are not only important in your work life but also in your personal life - they help to make you a successful individual.
Whilst the College is now in its 66th year, we have been vigilant in our efforts to stay abreast of the changes taking place in the world of business today. Of those changes, arguably the most important is the ever-changing world of technology. To see just how well we've embraced technology, go to the technology section from the 'About Bedford' page.
Apart from the computer training, many subjects covered at Bedford are useful 'life skills' - no matter what career path you eventually take. Communication skills (written and verbal), time management, teamwork, stress management, business etiquette, conflict resolution, public speaking, job seeking, budgeting, finance, researching, customer service, to name just a few, are skills that you will utilise forever.
Child Care
For the first time since the College' inception, in 2005 we decided to offer a training course other than business. Successful employment outcomes have always been our priority and it is with this in mind that we have embraced the idea of offering training in children's services.
With more and more parents today working full-time, child care is obviously a high-growth industry and the need for qualified workers is growing rapidly and will continue to grow well into the foreseeable future.
Designed to replicate an up-market Child Care Facility, our new, purpose-built Child Care Campus provides child care students with what is arguably the latest, most modern training facility available today.
Our Graduate Have the Edge
And finally, our graduate success rate. In order to provide our students with the best possible opportunity to achieve employment success, we liaise regularly with our employer associates to make certain that we are providing our students with the skills and knowledge that employers are seeking - those that will give Bedford Graduates 'The Edge' in employment success.
At Bedford we are proud of our high standards and we believe that the quality of training we provide is second-to-none. Our excellent graduate employment success rate speaks for itself.
I do hope that you decide to undertake your training with us, please feel free to come in and visit the College, meet our friendly staff and see what we have to offer - you can be assured of a warm welcome.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best of luck in your endeavours, I sincerely hope that you achieve well in the future. I look forward to meeting you.
