Why Choose Bedford

Choosing any training institution is obviously a difficult decision and one that should not be made lightly. At Bedford we truly believe that we provide the best possible training available and we strive to retain our position as one of the most widely-recognised, highly-regarded training organisations in Sydney today.

Caring Environment

Bedford is a not-for-profit, non-denominational, Christian training organisation and our ethos provides students with a high-standard of training whilst promoting and maintaining strong, ethical principles.

Our holistic approach to training means that we aim to produce well-trained, highly-skilled individuals who are aware of the needs of industry and will prove to be excellent employees.

A Fantastic Reputation

Established in 1944, Bedford College enjoys a wonderful reputation for the quality of training provided and the skills and knowledge demonstrated by our graduates.

Bedford Graduates are sought after by employers with many organisations coming back to Bedford for graduates year after year.

Happy, Caring and Friendly Atmosphere

The focus of the training at Bedford is to provide a successful career outcome to every student. We believe that in order for our students to have 'the edge' in employment success, we must provide them with the best possible learning environment - high-quality, professional training and a happy and caring atmosphere are condusive to successful learning outcomes for our graduates.

Small Class Sizes

The College has maintained small class sizes since its inception (usually 20 students). We feel that this is imperative in order to ensure that every individual student's needs are met. Small classes allow us to provide our students with personalised attention which assists every individual to achieve his/her own personal best results.

Dedicated, Supportive Staff

Our teachers are industry trained professionals dedicated to the professional and personal growth of our students. They participate in annual professional development sessions to ensure that they stay abreast of changes in teaching/learning practices.

Supervised Study Period

The College offers a free optional Supervised Study Period to all Bedford students. Teaching staff are available for one hour from 3.00pm to 4.00pm every day to assist students who may need extra help or revision.

Business Training

Bedford College has provided business training for 65 years and enjoys an excellent reputation within industry; you could say that we are 'specialists' in training for the business sector.

We have well-established links with some of the largest firms in Sydney some of which recruit Bedford Graduates year after year. Our Business Campus is light, airy and very modern which provides students with an environment that enhances their ability to learn.

Relevance

Courses at Bedford are specifically designed to meet the needs of industry - the content is 'relevant' to the work environment today.

What that means for the Bedford Graduate is that they have confidence in their skills and ability once they enter the workforce.

Child Care Training

On commencing child care training in 2005, we decided to conduct our child care courses differently than other training providers. We discussed our ideas with industry experts and decided that 3 days at College, 1 day online and 1 day each week in a Child Care Centre was the best way to provide our students with the ultimate learning experience.

We also felt it important that students have the 'feeling' of working in a modern Child Care Centre whilst studying and the new Child Care Campus was designed and built to replicate an ultra-modern, Child Care Centre. This means that students are able to perform the same duties in the same environment as would be expected in a child care facility right from day one.

Excellent Career Prospects

Our employment record is unsurpassed with the majority of graduates going straight into well-paid, satisfying jobs on completion of their course (free Job Placement Program available to all past and current students)

Automatic Entry into University Degrees

For individuals wishing to undertake further study after completing their Bedford Diploma course in either Accounting, Business or Child Care - our agreements with universities provides the means to do this.

Entrance into several universities is possible and there are currently Bedford Graduates enrolled in almost every university in NSW. (See the University Pathways section on this website for more information)

Every classroom has a built-in data projectors for use when delivering training, watching videos, online learning or presentations.

Our laboratories are fully-networked and of course internet access is available on every computer. Every Bedford student has their own roaming profile on the network and their own College email address which can also be accessed from home.

Bedford Online

Bedford students have remote access to their classrooms by clicking the Bedford Online button on our website and entering their username and password. This is a great facility for students wanting to access class work from home outside our normal college hours. Class notes, handouts, assessments and assignments, etc can be collected and posted to the classroom and students can participate in forums, chats and surveys.

Business Etiquette

In today's competitive world, it's important that you have an edge if you want to get ahead. What if your employer asked you to attend a corporate luncheon - would you be comfortable in your ability to impress? We will teach you how.

Fully Accredited Courses

Bedford College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and is registered to deliver accredited courses in NSW by VETAB (Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board). In order to be accredited, courses must meet relevant industry standards which have also been approved by the Australian Government.
