Bedford Traineeships: Earn While You Learn with Real Skills That Matter

At Bedford College, we believe learning should open doors to opportunity. For more than 80 years, Bedford has empowered people to gain practical skills, recognised qualifications and genuine confidence to build meaningful careers.

Our fee free traineeships (for eligible learners) combine paid employment with structured training. You learn on the job, supported by Bedford’s expert trainers, while building nationally recognised skills that employers value.

Whether you are just starting out, changing direction or developing your team, a Bedford traineeship is a proven way to grow real-world capability.

What is a Traineeship?

A traineeship links employment with formal vocational education. You are hired by an employer, trained on the job, and supported by Bedford’s trainers who guide your study and assessment.

Traineeships are available to people of working age and typically run for 12 to 24 months, depending on your qualification and schedule. They can be full time or part time and are available across a wide range of professions.

A Bedford traineeship gives you the best of both worlds: earning an income while studying towards a qualification. You gain workplace experience that sets you apart and graduate with the confidence and skills to step into your chosen field.

How a Bedford Traineeship Works

Bedford makes the process simple. From the moment you sign up to the day you graduate, our team coordinates training, communication and support so everyone stays in step.

Step 1: Sign Up

We help you, your employer and the relevant training authorities complete your traineeship contract. We also confirm eligibility for fee free training and funding opportunities.

Step 2: Training Plan

A customised training plan is developed, mapping workplace tasks to qualification units. Delivery is flexible and can include on-campus learning, online delivery or on-site visits.

Step 3: Learning and Assessment

You apply what you learn in real workplace situations. Assessments include observation, projects and workplace evidence, supported by Bedford’s trainers who guide your progress.

Step 4: Ongoing Support

Our small classes and experienced trainers provide personal guidance. We communicate regularly with you and your employer to keep progress on track and resolve challenges early.

Step 5: Completion

Once your competencies are achieved, you graduate with a nationally recognised qualification and a strong professional foundation.
