Bedford College celebrates 80 years

This year marks 80 years of operation as one of Australia’s longest-running not-for-profit vocational colleges. To celebrate, Bedford welcomed staff, students, alumni and guests from the community in commemorating this significant occasion.

Bedford College staff, students, alumni and guests celebrated 80 years of operation as one of Australia’s longest-running not-for-profit vocational colleges.

“This landmark event was a wonderful celebration of who we are and where we are going,” Chief Executive Steve Dixon says.

“It was great to see so many smiling faces in the room at our 80 year anniversary, where we were able to recognise this significant milestone collectively.”

Bedford College was established in 1943 to meet Australia’s great emerging social needs due to the devastation of families during World War II. Launched by the Baptist Churches in NSW movement with a benevolent heart, Bedford College was formed to provide essential job skills required for a rapidly changing workforce.

80 years later, Bedford College maintains a strong desire to make a positive difference in the world by giving everyday people equitable access to quality education leading to employment opportunities.

“We are proud of our Baptist heritage, warmly welcoming men and women in Australia and all over the world with diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds,” Steve states.

“From early establishment, our College has been known to deliver quality education to students in a close-knit community that values every individual while preparing them for the workplace.”
